Providing the Smiles on Blue Monday

Providing the Smiles on Blue Monday

Hey you, you’re doing great. It’s a new year, a great time to set new year's resolutions and start afresh! Although it's certainly an exciting time of year, it's also perfectly normal to get the ‘January Blues’ as the weather remains gloomy and the days remain short. Blue Monday raises awareness on depression and is a reminder to prioritise your mental health and take care of yourself.

Just as you would with your skin, it’s important to think about what your mouth - and smile - needs. Do you suffer from sensitivity? Are you worried about morning breath? Do you desire a whiter smile, but don’t want to invest in professional whitening?

Take a few minutes today to think about your oral health and your oral care goals. Whatever you want to achieve and improve, we have a clean, clinically proven, active-ingredient formulation or device to help you achieve it! We want you to feel your most positive self this January whether that's physically or mentally, so we’ve covered some top tips to tackle the January Blues.

Mood Boosting Tips:

  • Eat well
  • Eating a balanced diet will help to boost your energy and reduce fatigue. Eating a range of superfoods, vegetables and fruits will have you feeling lifted and energised. Avoid takeaways and proceed foods to avoid feeling ‘sluggish and be sure to stay hydrated.  According to Healthline anxiety and depression are strongly triggered by dehydration so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. A great way to start the day is drinking a glass of water as soon as you wake up to help hydrate your body immediately.

  • Stay Active
  • Exercising will help your body to produce endorphins which is the happy hormone. Regular exercise will really help to benefit your mental health even if you pop out for a short walk. Wherever you live, spending time outdoors is a great way to connect with nature and relieve any stress you may be feeling.

  • Practice Gratitude
  • According to the AIA, people who practise gratitude are more likely to feel optimistic and positive about life. Sometimes it can be incredibly tough to seek the silver linings in the everyday, but you can be grateful for the simple things in life like your garden, your friends and family or even your postman! Naming 3 things you're grateful for each evening will help to set a healthy mindset.

  • Stay Social
  • As great as social media is, we suggest phoning up your nan who you’ve been meaning to call or reaching out to an old friend for coffee. Your friends and family play a key role in your support system and by letting them know you appreciate them, it will make you feel good about yourself. Think of it as good karma!

  • Sleep Well
  • Try to get your 7 hours minimum of sleep each night to wake up feeling well rested and refreshed. Routine plays an essential role in our everyday life and it will have a massive impact on your mental wellbeing so be sure to not starve yourself of rest or even to over rest.

  • Take some ‘me’ time

  • Finally the ‘fun’ part! Yes it is actually all about you this time. Put yourself first, it's about time you did. Pop on that face mask, read that book you’ve been putting off and apply your whitening strips. A little pamper will help you to feel relaxed and your best self. Whatever your beauty routine, we want you to stay positive and smiling.
